Institute for Tibetan Studies

The Institute for Tibetan Studies was founded by the Estonian-Tibetan Cultural Society for promoting higher Tibetan studies in Estonia. It is associated with the Tarab Ladrang Institute which was originally founded by Tarab Tulku I in the 16th century in Tibet.

The aim of the institute is :

  • to organize education in Tibetan studies, primarily basic studies, advanced training and refresher courses;
  • to organize research-work in Tibetan studies;
  • to study and teach ‘Unity in Duality’ (U.D.) philosophy, science of mind and personal development and psychotherapeutic application;
  • to further comparative studies in Eastern and Western cultures, especially between ‘Unity in Duality’ philosophy and Western science and humanities;

The Institute for Tibetan Studies was inaugurated on June 28, 2002. At present the institute has the four-year programme on Buddhist philosophy and psychology on the curriculum.
